24th of December 2014 Christmas Eve / Antarctica

Today is Christmas Eve!!! We are enjoying an outstandingly beautiful day! The sun is out and there is hardly a cloud in the sky.

Plus – I am having a white Christmas.

We spend the afternoon at Cuverville Island and I made use of the perfect conditions and went ashore for a bit.

For my friends this was a “normal working day”. Plans had been made for the evening, though. I learned that the crew would all be dining together – in the Restaurant – and celebrate Christmas Eve. This was a fine event.

Everybody dressed up for it.

And everybody brought a present with them – the so called “Secret Santa” gifts were piled up at the entrance of the Restaurant. Henrik made a speech and we enjoyed a super tasty Swedish Christmas Dinner, after which the Secret Santas were distributed.
Everybody helped cleaning up the Restaurant and setting it up for breakfast the next morning. A small program of games and a raffle had been prepared by the Philippine crew. The games were really funny; we all laughed a lot. All ended with a big Christmas party. I decided to sleep in tomorrow… .
