| Fred-Report:
Hello everyone!
On early Sunday morning we picked up the pilot on river Humber. Birka Express goes to King George dock. Before the dock, we had to go through the lock. And that lock is narrow, only 26m wide. Since the ship has a beam of 22,7m -there is not too much space on sides!
Because stevedores in Hull are very efficient, it took only 8 hours to discharge and load the ship. Then we were back at sea again. Weather was not so good, wind force was SE 7-8 beaufort. Next port will be Helsinki, Finland.
This time we don't have to use Kiel Kanal, we are driving around (like they say in here). Tuesday evening we were going round of Skagen Peninsula. Skagen is like a boundary between Skagerrak (North Sea side) and Kattegat (the Straits of Denmark). Kattegat will leads us to the Baltic Sea. Upcoming night I'm going to go to the bridge and enjoy the lights of Helsingborg - Helsingor. Those two cities, which belongs to Sweden and Denmark, are located very close to each other - only 4km apart.
Many of the crew members has started a diet after summer. Gym has been used a lot. I hope they will keep their strength!
That's all folks! I'll write to you again soon how my journey gets on.
Fred
P.S. At the first picture me and Chief are discharging
and in the other one, I'm posing with my tugmaster driver friend in Rostock.
