Grytviken ( 54°16’S / 36°30’W) 05. 03. 2015

We reached South Georgia in the early morning hours. Around 06am we sailed into the Drygalsky Fjord at the south west coast. But we could get only a little impression of the majestic fjord as it was very foggy. God thanks the weather changed during the morning so that we had a good landing in Grytviken in the afternoon. Grytviken is an old whaling station, today prepared as an open air museum. It is a very interesting place, but to see the old factory and the old whaling vessels with their harpune in the bow, gave me a very special feeling.

But it was so nice to see that the animals like King Penguins and Fur seals take over the place again.
