28.02.15 Paradise Bay (64°53’S / 62°52’W) and Pleneau Island (65°04’S / 63°57’W)
We reached the Paradise Bay at Antarctic Peninsula after two very rough Sea days. The stormy days have been forgotten quite fast after we have seen the amazing scenery of the Paradise Bay, with all the glaciers and icebergs. Most passengers left the ship for a continental landing at the Argentine Base Brown. But I went with my foster mother on a PolarCircleBoat cruise. The cruise was planned as an ice cruise, but it turned into a fantastic whale cruise. Three Humpback Whales, two adults with a calf stayed with us just next to our small boats for a very long time. They did not show any fear and we got best possibilities to make good photos.

During lunch time we sailed through the very scenic Lemaire Channel. As I loved the PolarCircleBoat cruise so very much I joined a second one in the area of Pleneau Island in the afternoon. It was spectacular again with miraculous icebergs. We did not find any whale in the afternoon, but a Leopard seal on an ice flow is impressive too.
