| Fred-Report:
Fred had a wonderful day with Michael and his family enjoying the Tasmanian summer at a local food and wine event called Festivale
.
Held each year in February over 3 days in Launceston's main public park. Given the hot weather in Australia Fred is now wearing a pair of bright iridescent green board-shorts..known locally as 'boardies'
Fred enjoyed tasting many of the dishes on offer, all made from local Tasmanian ingredients. These included Bhutanese dumplings in a spicy tomato sauce,
sharing with Andrew some Tempura mushrooms with garlic aioli dipping sauce from the Huon Valley in southern Tasmania.
and a bratwurst sausage from the Fingal Valley just South of Launceston.
Also on offer were Tasmanian wines which Fred shared with his hosts. To start, Fred sampled a non alcoholic elderberry sangria
and then a white wine from Delemere Winery
.
With Andrew, Fred then went to look at some Tasmanian made whiskeys. Andrew purchased a bottle of Hellyers Road hazelnut whiskey
based on Fred's recommendation. Having a knack for picking other nice wines Fred suggested Dan try another white wine from Ghost Rock near Devonport on Tasmania's North West coast.
After eating and a few drinks Michael and Fred went to watch some of the entertainers and buskers around the park. First he listened to some American Swing singers
,
then Tubby the Robot entertaining the children, Mieke turning hula hoops
,
then the Space Cowboy swallowing 2 swords
followed by juggling knives on a unicycle!
Hope you enjoy the photos as much as Fred enjoyed his day.
Mike
