| Fred-Report: DATE: 19 October 2013 LOCAL (SHIP) TIME: 1200 POSITION: -58 55 , 137 03 HEADING 245 CURRENT SPEED (KNOTS): 11.6 DISTANCE TO NEXT WAYPOINT (NAUTICAL MILES):1547 DISTANCE COVERED LAST 24 HOURS (NAUTICAL MILES): 289 WEATHER CONDITIONS: Overcast, moderate breeze AIR TEMPERATURE: 0.6 SEA TEMPERATURE: 0.67 SEA CONDITIONS: Moderate waves to 2 metres ICE CONDITIONS: Nil We have continued to make steady progress in the last 24 hours. We were subjected to a lumbering rolling sea overnight which deprived many of a decent night’s sleep. This morning we conducted a scheduled emergency muster on the helideck with everyone in full Antarctic gear due to the low ambient temperature and prevailing snow showers. After the muster Breathing Apparatus (BA) and medically trained expeditioners were involved in a training exercise with the ships first Officer Gerry and Doctor Judy Work wise everyone is anticipating the busy week ahead full of a multitude of briefings and training sessions ranging from Antarctic field training to helicopter safety and everything in between. Everyone on board is well and in good spirits. Ships clocks will be retarded 1 hour tonight. |
